The story behind the name goes here, in Mr. and Mrs. Braddy’s own words. It is the one thing no other charter listing can offer.
Our boat, your week in the islands.
Crude Escape is a privately owned yacht, and we want everyone who steps aboard to love her the way we do.
She is a new Fountaine Pajot Aura 51: easy to handle under sail, steady and roomy at anchor, with air conditioning, a generator and a watermaker for long days away from the marina. Bring your family, your sailing friends or the whole reunion. Each cabin has its own head.
Crude Escape is maintained and chartered by our partners at BVI Yacht Charters in Road Town, Tortola, so the boat is ready when you arrive and help is a radio call away.
Space, light and calm
The cockpit opens straight into the salon and galley, so the whole main deck becomes one bright room over the water.

Take the helm, or don’t.
Qualified sailors skipper her themselves. Not a sailor? Add a captain, a chef or both.
Bareboat
You are the captain. Share your sailing résumé when you book, then plan your own route through the islands at your own pace.
Add a captain
A licensed local captain handles the sailing and knows the best moorings, so everyone aboard is on vacation, including you. Want a refresher instead? A checkout skipper for the first day is $250.
Add a chef
Fresh island menus planned around your group, served on deck at sunset. Nobody has to cook or do the dishes.
Dinner at sunset, right off the stern.
Grill fish on the onboard BBQ, or add a private chef for a candlelit dinner in the cockpit. After dark, switch on the underwater lights and watch the bay come alive beneath the hulls.
Your week aboard, in fifteen seconds.
The bay at anchor, the sail across, champagne on the net, dinner at sunset and the underwater lights at night.
Where the wind might take you
Mostly short hops between sheltered anchorages. The BVI are among the easiest cruising grounds in the world.

Snorkel the caves, then sundowners in the Bight.
Cooper Island
A quiet mooring, a reef dive and a beach bar.
Virgin Gorda
Granite grottoes at The Baths before the crowds arrive.

Check availabilityDo we need sailing experience?
To sail bareboat, someone in your group needs to submit a sailing résumé showing comparable experience, which is reviewed when you book. If no one qualifies, add a licensed captain and the sailing is taken care of.
Where does the charter start?
Crude Escape is based in Road Town, Tortola, with BVI Yacht Charters. Most guests fly into Beef Island (EIS), a short drive from the marina.
What does a week cost beyond the rate?
Insurance is $50 a day, up to $500 per charter, with a $3,500 deductible on a yacht this size. Fuel is charged by the gallon. Captain, chef and provisioning are optional. A 50% deposit is due within 7 days of your contract, and the balance 45 days before you sail.
Can we add a captain or chef?
Yes. A captain, a chef, provisioning and other extras can all be added when you book. You can also bring a checkout skipper for the first day, then take over.
Can we sail to Anegada?
Yes, weather permitting. BVI Yacht Charters asks you to call by 9am that morning. Winds should be under 20 knots and seas under 8 feet.
Is she good for families and big groups?
She is built for it. Six queen cabins with their own heads, a level and stable catamaran deck, a hydraulic swim platform, air conditioning for sleeping, and a watermaker to top up the tanks.
